The sub-project addresses the growing demand for a universal high-performance coating for wet and dry machining, micro-tools, and heavy-duty cutting applications. Modern industries require coatings combining high wear resistance, oxidation stability, and toughness with a smooth surface and long lifetime. The goal is to develop and compare two next-generation AlCrTiSiN coatings deposited by magnetron sputtering technologies with enhanced ionization - FMS and HiPIMS - to determine which offers the best balance of performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
