PROTEOFORMER aims to manipulate proteoforms (protein complexes, post-translationally modified proteins) with chemical tools to gain unprecedented insight into and control over protein function. Most drug molecules and chemical probes are blind to the broad range of functions a single protein can exhibit in different proteoforms. There is a lack of strategies to selectively address and study individual protein states. PROTEOFORMER combines protein recognition by selective ligands, reactive warheads for proximity-driven chemistry, and functional cargo to devise a new generation of tools for controlling protein complexes and post-translational modifications.
