The 28th edition will distribute one million crowns across seven categories. In the categories of best diploma and dissertation, not only students but also thesis supervisors/tutors will receive awards and financial rewards. The financial rewards that Siemens has distributed among 490 winning students, scientists, and teachers over the past 27 years have reached a total of 17.4 million crowns. Candidates can apply via the website www.cenasiemens.cz until November 30, 2025.

1. Most significant result of basic research (individual or research team)
2. Best educator
3. Best master's thesis (top three places + thesis supervisor)
4. Best doctoral thesis (top three places + supervisor)
5. Special award for outstanding quality of female scientific work
6. Best graduate thesis (master's/doctoral) dealing with topics related to the Industry concept
7. Best graduate thesis (master's/doctoral) dealing with smart infrastructure and energy

• Doc. Ing. Ladislav Janíček Ph.D., MBA, LL.M. (rector, Brno University of Technology) – Best diploma thesis (first three places + thesis supervisor)
• Prof. Ing. Zbyněk Škvor, CSc. (Acting President of CTU, Vice-Rector for Science, Creative Activities and Doctoral Studies, Czech Technical University in Prague) – Best dissertation (first three places + supervisor)
• Prof. MUDr. Milena Králíčková, Ph.D. (Chairwoman, Czech Rectors' Conference) – Best Teacher
• Ing. Eduard Palíšek, Ph.D., MBA (CEO, Siemens Czech Republic) – Special Award for Outstanding Quality of Female Scientific Work
• Prof. Ing. Vladimír Mařík, DrSc., dr. h. c. (Scientific Director, Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics, CTU) – Best graduate thesis (diploma/dissertation) dealing with topics related to the Industry 4.0 concept
• Prof. Stanislav Mišák, Ph.D. (Director, Center for Energy and Environmental Technologies CEET, VŠB-TUO) – Best graduate thesis (diploma/dissertation) dealing with smart infrastructure and energy
In the previous year's competition, the most awards went to the Czech Technical University in Prague (8 awards), the Brno University of Technology (5 awards), the Czech Academy of Sciences (3 awards), Tomáš Baťa University in Zlín (2 awards), and Masaryk University and the Technical University of Liberec (1 award each).
The general public can also participate in the nominations – candidates and their work can be nominated via the website www.cenasiemens.cz. If the nominated candidate wins, the nominator will receive a bonus of CZK 10,000.
About the competition:
The Werner von Siemens Award is organized by Siemens Czech Republic in cooperation with leading representatives of universities and the Czech Academy of Sciences, who also act as guarantors for the individual categories and participate in the evaluation of the works. The awards are held under the auspices of Marek Ženíšek, Minister of Science, Research and Innovation, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade. In terms of its scope, financial rewards, and history, the Werner von Siemens Award is one of the most significant independent initiatives of its kind in the Czech Republic. In the previous 27 years of the competition, 490 students, teachers, and scientists have been awarded, with over CZK 17.4 million paid out in prizes.
